Hello - I'm hoping that some homeowners might happen to glance this way and be willing to help me transition from the city back home to the redwoods. I've been back to Boulder Creek many times over the years, but what I need help with is homeowner tips. I'm hoping to buy something and would like to know, from your perspective, what I should be aware of, look for, do inspections on, be prepared for. For instance, at one point in my life I lived in Alaska, and you have to know how to heat your home without it costing you a fortune - it's not a choice, it's a necessity. In San Francisco, you have to look at your foundation and check for mold, and pest infestation. I know these may be somewhat universal, but I'm also not used to what to look for in terms of water, septic, land care, liquifaction. I'll be solo and I'll want to DIY as much as I can - I can swing a hammer and such but I don't want to walk into any major concerns. I sure would appreciate it if anyone sees this and has the time to share their knowledge. My dream is to live and work in the area, to really return to the community, I don't really want to commute too much down the mountain. *sigh* I'm feeling trapped here already - it will take me some time to get ready, but I can't wait. Thanks in advance. |

Hello, I am a realtor as well as a soon to be homeowner in boulder creek. The main issues people tend to come across in home inspections is septic issues, termites, mold, and foundation issues. There also can be issues with "red tags" and non permitted work that has been done on the place you may be trying to buy. A lot of things are universal in the home inspection, but there are certain things to look out for in the SC Mtns that you may not have to else where, it all depends on the individual property. If you have any questions at all or would like to see what is available right now in boulder creek I'd be happy to help. Email me anytime at JustinT@adrhomes.com and we can go from there. - Justin |
